About Us

The Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission was established in April of 1955. Capacity was a mere 20 men. For many years the mission served quietly, an unknown entity to the majority of the population of Toledo. This trend continued until recently when God chose to expand the vision of TGRM through its new Executive Director, Thomas Clapsaddle. Since then our capacity has more than doubled to 45.

In 2004 TGRM opened the women's division, now known as Rebekah's Haven, under the watchful eye of Nancy Dewitt. Able to house 15 women, in 2007 Rebekah's Haven was expanded to accept women with children.

2007 saw further expansion as we open a transitional housing unit for men. Able to accommodate 4 men, each in his own apartment, we continue to work with them to provide spiritual growth and other life skills necessary for them to progress to self-sufficiency.

Where will 2008 take us? Only God knows for sure, but plans are well under way to establish a retail thrift store that will provide low cost clothing and other items. Rest assured that this will not keep those who truly need our help from continuing to receive goods at no cost to them.

Mission Statement

Ours is a ministry of reconciliation. We give priority to our guests' spiritual needs without neglecting their physical and material needs.

Our mission is to serve and glorify God through a Christ centered outreach of love and compassion that responds to the physical and spiritual needs of disadvantaged men, women, and children without regard to their race, color, creed, or social standing.
